Panhandle Breast Health (PBH) recently launched a new campaign encouraging routine mammograms. The campaign utilizes a series of powerful photographs and testimonials to emphasize the importance of early detection.

 

The "Screened and Seen" campaign highlights personal stories from individuals who have been directly or indirectly affected by breast cancer. Through these first-person accounts, PBH aims to convey the critical message that mammography screening can help detect breast cancer in its earlier stages, which saves lives.

 

"My sister had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and meeting members of PBH gave me hope and encouragement as I learned from others dealing with cancer and maintaining a positive attitude," says campaign participant Pat Mathis of her experience with PBH. By sharing these stories, the campaign hopes to connect with people on a personal level, showing the profound impact early detection can have on one's life.

 

Nicole Hirschler, president of the PBH Board of Directors, speaks about her motivation for joining the campaign: "I want to make a difference in someone's life, and with PBH, I can do that. My momma is a colon cancer survivor, and I lost a cousin to breast cancer. PBH is making a difference, and I love being a part of it."

 

The "Screened and Seen" campaign also addresses the importance of mammograms in the LGBTQ+ community, which is often overlooked in discussions about breast cancer prevention. This focus aims to raise awareness about the need for regular cancer screenings.

 

Michelle Houston, a campaign participant, stresses the importance of not delaying mammograms: "Avoiding screenings doesn't keep you safe from cancer. If you can't afford a mammogram, Panhandle Breast Health can help. Don't delay screenings."
