The National Breast Cancer Foundation recently announced a new program to help eligible military women diagnosed with breast cancer. Military women are up to 40 percent more likely to develop breast cancer than civilians. Many of these women face social determinants of health, such as food insecurity and poverty, preventing their access to timely, quality healthcare.
To address this need, NBCF launched the Military Women’s Patient Relief Fund in partnership with the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation. This fund will provide financial support to eligible military women diagnosed with breast cancer who face barriers to care, such as: transportation and childcare costs during treatment, housing and rent costs due to lack of income, groceries to prevent food insecurity, and expensive prescription co-pays or underinsured treatment costs.
